EDUCATION

Prior to my study in Fine Art, I already finished a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and Master’s degrees in Law in Taiwan and various European countries. In 2015, I started my study in Fine Arts at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK), The Hague, in the Netherlands, while I was pregnant with my second child and worked as a branch manager for a chemical company. I graduated from KABK in 2019 with a specialization in painting and autonomous work. Due to my diaspora background, I dedicate my practice to visual and discursive exploration on cross-generational traumas in family/home context and hybridity. Currently, I am studying art therapy and I am developing a therapy - art practice.

WORK

Before I started my professional practice in the art field, I had worked for a Taiwanese chemical company as their branch manager in Europe for 8 years. I was responsible for the business operation in the whole Europe. In the past, I worked in Taiwan, China, and the Netherlands and traveled regularly.  Since the graduation from KABK fine arts, I have been working as an autonomous artist and I am involved in the contemporary diaspora discourse through exhibitions, artist talks, and workshops. I am also an active member of the initiative PANT (Platform for Artists Netherlands Taiwan) by which we provide a platform for artists and cultural cooperation between the Netherlands and Taiwan. I am a writer for Taiwanese media on which they provide information related to Dutch culture. I write articles about Dutch contemporary art and artists to increase their publicity in the Chinese-speaking world. I design and give art therapy/therapeutic workshops for old people with dementia or immigrants as social practice and also as part of research on mental images and cultural hybridity.
